Skull-ptures

Hedi Xandt is a German-born artist that mixes styles and materials with talent. The artist invites the viewer to discover his dark and intense universe with his new macabre artwork. The above pieces are a series that the artist refers to as “skull-ptures”. They combine the aesthetics of naturally shaped bone with state-of-the-art and experimental production techniques. The pieces remind me of the old craniometers that were used to measure the external dimensions of skulls.

COLLEGE FIRST.

I love how the Addams Family has ZERO slut-shaming. Like… honey you can dance naked and enslave someone with your womanly charms if you want to, I don’t fucking care, but so help me you’re going to get a college education first.

A+ PARENTING

The Addamses are what every family should aspire to be like (you know; without the dismemberment and electric chairs as play time).  Honestly, have you ever seen more unconditionally loving and supportive parents than Gomez and Morticia?  And not just with the kids, but with each other.  I think what’s especially unique about them is how open they are with everything.  They don’t treat their children like children.  They treat them like they treat everyone else; direct, and to the point.

It’s creepy how many good examples of parenting and romantic relationships there is in these characters, especially considering they are supposed to be the antithesis of the stereotypical American nuclear family.

They are my favorite fictional family. They love unconditionally and unabashedly, and even when one of their children turns out to be the exact opposite of everything that they as a family seem to stand for (when Pubert the baby was “sick,” aka when he was a bright and bubbly blond that loved happy things and bright colors), instead of trying to “fix” him they went along with it, allowing his nursery to be brightly-colored and reading happy picture books to him. LOVE THEM

Lake Natron in northern Tanzania turns animals into statues. The lake can reach a temperature of up to 50 degrees Celsius and its alkalinity levels vary between pH 9 and 10.5. Only some extremophiles, like the Alkaline tilapia, live there. All other creatures that mistakenly ‘crash’ into the most caustic lake on Earth, are turned into calcified versions of themselves. Photographer Nick Brandt visited there and took these eerie images of birds turned into statues after ‘crashing’ into the lake. Birds turned to stone.Read more: http://bit.ly/1bpCGEk via NewScientist
